A piece fitting in two places does not mean you must choose the first. The official Adventure Blocks presentation describes placing pieces, completing lines and leaving room for what comes next. You can compare both spaces before deciding, without assuming which shape will appear later.
A comparison, not a guaranteed solution
Imagine a hypothetical position: a piece fits in two places and neither placement completes a line. The first leaves a two-row by two-column space; the second occupies part of that space and leaves only other separated gaps, with no other space of that size. If your aim is to reserve space for a possible 2 × 2 square shape, you would choose the first. Only if a later piece needed that space could it use it; this example does not claim such a piece will appear or guarantee a win.
If an option completes a line, the resulting board can change that comparison. Look at the state the move actually leaves before evaluating the next one. The number of empty cells alone does not tell you whether a particular shape will fit: their arrangement matters too.
What to consider before and after
- Find two positions the current piece can occupy in your game. If you find only one, the guide does not assume another exists.
- Compare the room each choice leaves and consider any completed line. If one preserves a shape of space you want to reserve, consider that option without treating the next piece as certain.
- After playing, inspect the board and available pieces again. Decide using what your game shows, without treating a future piece as certain.
This comparison does not add rotation, swapping or a preview. Nor does it guarantee completing an encounter: in campaign mode, consider the objective relevant to your game. The objective guide distinguishes a mission condition from advertised rewards.
